Paul WalkerThe late Paul Walker, who died when the Porsche he was riding in crashed and caught fire, was the subject of a Twitter hoax that insisted the star faked his own death.
The website nodisinfo.com started the tasteless rumor after publishing a story depicting, with photo evidence, how the actor and a production crew were able to pull off such an elaborate hoax.
While the rumors are patently false, it has not stopped fans from having to double check and confirm their disbelief on Twitter.
@MarissaGodbey wrote: "So apparently there's a possibility that Paul Walker faked his death.. regardless of reasoning, I'd just be happy he's still alive."
While @caitlyngreen18 psoted: "Now the media is saying tht paul walker faked his death!!! I don't know what to believe anymore! "
The "Fast & Furious" star and his friend Roger Rodas were killed when the Porsche Carrera GT they were traveling in crashed and caught fire.

An autopsy report formally identified Walker, 40, as the passenger, and Rodas, 38, as the driver. The report, which listed the incident as an accident, stated that Rodas died of "multiple traumatic injuries" and Walker of "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries."
A toxicology report is still pending for both men and should be completed in six to eight weeks.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department insisted that speed was a factor in the one-car crash in the community of Valencia.
There was an outpouring of support from fans all over the globe after news of his passing was posted to his social media accounts.
Walker was on a break from filming the seventh film in the series and on Wednesday, morning Universal Pictures announced it was shutting down production on the latest sequel.
"Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended 'Fast & Furious' family of cast, crew, and filmmakers," the studio said in a statement.
